Deelyla

Dear sweet Deelyla

We loved you from the start

We brought you home, you settled in

You stayed right in our heart.

Softer than the finest silk

Saucer eyes of golden hue

Gentle paws, a pretty face

Disposition always true.

You sat outside my office

You were always there

I felt a little selfish ‘cause

I didn’t always share.

Suitcase came out; you made it clear

Did not want us to go

You preened and sat atop our case

Showing you loved us so.

But then we heard house sitters all

As soon as we had left

You perked right up, sat on their laps

Were no longer bereft.

You took care of your master

In your new Dee Why home

You had command and ruled the roost

From your regal throne.

You followed the sunshine

When it moved from here to there

You slept and purred and were content

With elegance and flair.

Farewell our sweet Deelyla

We will miss you every day

As we remember those good times

When together we would play.
