APRIL 1976 - MAY 1979

In 1976 when I was working as a professional singer in Sydney Clubs, English comedian Dave Burke was about to launch Encore, an entertainment industry magazine. Andrew Urban and I bought Encore from Dave and his wife Sybil, published and ran it - filling an important void in the industry. We later sold it to Showcase Publications and continued to guide its development as it expanded into film, theatre & music (April 1976 - May 1983). First anniversary party photos (1977)

Encore was content rich, providing a comprehensive record of the entertainment industry.
.Major interviews (by Andrew Urban) included Maestro Tommy Tycho, flautist Don Burrows, trumpeter Billy Burton, singers Marcia Hines & Jon English, Julie Anthony, Anthony Newley Don Lane, Reg Lindsay, Simon Gallagher, Claire Poole, Barry Crocker, Barry Humphries, director Peter Faiman & comedian Rodney Rude. I wrote a gossip column called Talkabout, which canvassed what was happening behind the scenes. All the magazine covers are below.
