While I was still working as a professional singer, Andrew Urban and I co-published ENCORE MAGAZINE, the monthly trade magazine for entertainers. We ran it on a shoestring and basically did everything, making it up as we went along. We had a lot of fun. After we sold Encore Magazine, I was invited to manage the PR and Public Relations portfolio for CHAMPAGNE POMMERY, a prestigious Champagne House in Reims. The winemaker was Prince Alain de Polignac, the great great grandson of Louise Pommery, daughter of Madame Pommery, who famously made Champagne dry. The role gave me the opportunity to be creative by conceiving the Louise Pommery Ballet Grant with the Australian Ballet, use my French and organise wonderful functions. We launched URBAN CINEFILE in 1997 at the beginning of the digital revolution and ran it for 20 years. It was a weekly magazine with movie reviews, star interviews, features, box office, news, trailers and onset visits. As Australia’s first online movie magazine, we won the prestigious Australian Financial Review/Telstra Australian Internet Awards for Arts & Entertainment and syndicated our content to all the ISP as well as print publications.
